Get that beach body back!

I was talking to my friend (shout out to Jessica, the owner at the best hardwood flooring company!) about how summer is approaching.  Every female knows what that means . . . bathing suit weather.  We have a few weeks t get that body back to summer standards.  LOL.

Here are my tricks of the trade:

  • Drink more water
  • Use accessories with your suit
  • Avoid the carbs
  • Stand tall and use great posture
  • Get enough sleep
  • Work on that butt!
  • Slim the thighs
  • Abs!
  • Think sexy with that bikini

Drink more water – This will help you fill up rather than going for the calorie loaded sodas and snacks. Continue reading Get that beach body back!

According to the BMI chart, I’m too short

I’m so hungry I can eat a plate.  Well, not really.  I’ve been dieting and exercising a lot lately.  Insanity workout program and it’s pretty legit.  The first week was rough, I’m not going to lie.  But, I’ve been able to power through to improve my health.  I want to be able to see my grandchildren grow up as my grandparents did.

I really felt like I was on a collision course with heart disease or diabetes, like so many Americans these days.  I would drink 3-4 sodas a day and have sweets throughout the day.  Nearly turning 40, I was packing on the pounds and just not feeling very well.  About 6 years ago I ran the Honolulu Marathon and felt like I was in the best shape of my life.  That all changed after I accomplished that great goal.  I got lazy, stopped exercising, and really ate like crap.  I started feeling embarrassed when I looked at pictures of myself and knew that I needed to do something different.

That something different happened one evening over a couple beers with my buddy.  He challenged me to do Insanity with him.  Kind of like a peer pressure idea (and it sounded like a great idea after a few beers).  We wouldn’t workout together.  Just be held accountable to do it each day.  Well, I got hooked.  I finished up the 9 week program and started another round yesterday.  Coupled with a great diet (and no soda), I’m down 16 pounds and feel really good about myself.

Why should you care?  Take a look in the mirror, assess your health, and really critique how you’re feeling.  Do you feel tired or out of energy?  Are those pants fitting a little tired?  Kick yourself in the rear and avoid the harmful effects of excessive weight: Continue reading According to the BMI chart, I’m too short
